Names and brands have been synonymous to wealth in this country and by God’s grace and favour, are doing well with the exception of few like RLG, Ike Abani’s Mad House Records etc. who are nowhere to be found in this country Ghana. It is no news that people had issues with Zylofon Media’s validity and sustenance as far Ghana is concerned.
Forgetting that there are even known entities that are blowing bigger money but weren’t on the Ghanaian showbiz since it is almost impossible to reap back the money one spends because of the failure or inexistence of systems and structures that should make sure moneys are swiftly collected for those that owned the various intellectual properties.
At the moment, Zylofon Media, a record label tang of wealth in Ghana and it is so because of the labels spending power. The record label has come to the books of the Media Watchdog now for its music business but for the Radio and TV they are about starting; Zylofon 102.1 FM and Zylofon TV which comes to me, a follower as joy because I expect something new from them though it’s obvious what their core duties will be.
Zylofon 102.1 FM from my sniffing around reveals will be dominated by the entertainment or if you like Showbiz laced with bits of socio political programming. At the moment, I can’t wait to see how the two will be married together but at the moment, it sounds weird but will wait to see the execution because I might just love the idea and name or names that will handle that/those socio political programme(s).
The radio station started transmission on a quiet because they needed all clearance before opening their transmission and I must confess it looks like they are done now because they have become loud and reaching far and wide now.
Truth be told, the transmission started not so good and sounded like songs are just being loaded on the airspace without any direction whatsoever which is not the characteristics of test transmissions. Aside testing the quality of sound and fine tuning of equipment, the test also serves as pointing out the direction the radio station is heading.
As you read this write up, the test has been up to standard now and sounds like the direction of the channel is clear now. So far the DJs have been psyched up and have up their game without any shred of doubt.
Channel is just about rolling out its programming and from my investigation, Zylofon FM will be doing an entertainment morning show with Sammy Flex. Just as we thought that presenter was done with radio because of how he abruptly ended his show at Pluzz and started his ‘hopping’ campaign. It comes as a joy to me because Ghana’s showbiz really needed a morning show or shows dedicating for it.
The Salaga soldier Blakk Rasta is also part of the team and from what I hear, he will be handling the drive time. The man who resigned from Hitz FM after his quandary with the parliament of Ghana definitely is a great choice if you ask me because he has so much in him to give to the world. His passion for radio overrides all other great talents of his.
Blakk Rasta has the biggest following on radio as a reggae presenter and that addition to the channel will be a major boost. I am only waiting to see how his new found love in Jesus will affect his work on the channel and whether that effect will be positive or negative.
So above are the two major shows that will be airing on the channel and presenters who will be taking care of them. So far those names really cannot be overlooked when it comes to giving out their best especially when on air.
I want to sound a caution to whoever will handle this Zylofon 102.1 FM to be serious with his marketing team because it was one of the major banes of the channel that dedicated it to doing Showbiz not long ago.
I wish Zylofon all the best as they roll out, I hope they do so in grand style and make sure staffs are well remunerated to bring the best out from them.
