If you have and still enjoy KuRl songx hit single Jennifer Lomotey which features Ghana’s most influential rap artiste, Sarkodie, then it’s time to know one of the main brains behind the beautiful composition of the song.
Gyimah Peterson better known by his stage name as Jim Pee is a young talented urban inspirational singer who has consistently been on top of his game with his exceptional music composition and a soothing voice to match.
For the past five years and over, Jim Pee, though his face and name might look new to many is currently one of the top-notched music composers and performers who played an instrumental role in the composition of the Jennifer Lomotey hit single by Kurl Songx as he wrote versions which include soldier lafia deedeede and I go give it to you six in the morning of the song.
His level of knowledge for composing good music has over the years attracted the attention of most of the known faces both in the gospel fraternity and in the secular world and our very own police officer, SP Kofi Sarpong is one of the admirers of Gym Pee as he (SP Kofi Sarpong) felt in love with his (Jim Pee’s) style and later contracted him to write a song for him which is likely to be released.
In an interview with www.flexgh.com, Jim Pee as he is affectionately called detailed the uniqueness of his talent as he has played a major role in the careers of most of some popular artistes and so many up and coming artistes.
“I helped Kurl Songx with some lyrics to his jennifer Lomotey single. I remember Kaywa telling me how profane that portion was after I suggested it to him. We had to debate it for several minutes and it was finally considered. I am not limiting myself to doing only gospel (urban) music or inspirational songs. I am a creative person and anything at all can happen along the journey as a musician. Nobody is born a gospel artiste, it’s a decision one will make along the line to direct or showcase his or her craft or talent” he stressed.
Jim Pee further said “I see myself as a musician and not a gospel’ artiste. When people sing about love they are not doing the bad or wrong thing because we are living by love in this world. Months ago, SP Kofi Sarpong listened to one of my songs and was actually in love with my style and wanted me to write a song for him which I did and he (SP Kofi Sarpong) is now working on it”.
When asked how he feels after Kurl’s refusal to acknowledge him as being part of the composers of his song, Jim Pee who for once sounded hurt had this to say.
“It was Kaywa who asked me to contribute to the song since Kurl was out of vibes and seemed struggling. The song belongs to Kurl and it’s up to him to acknowledge whoever he deems worthy of acknowledging because I didn’t write the whole song for him. There was a time I met him at Radio XYZ on an interview on the same platform and after the interview, I approached him just so I can greet him. But I wasn’t happy at his reception as he pretended he never knew me from anywhere. Though Kurl is not my friend, I expected him to have at least showed some love by talking to me nicely when I approached him. Dee Aja, the composer of the Onaapo song wasn’t also happy when I told him of what had happened because he was also in the studio when I suggested that portion of the song for Kurl but for me, I am cool with all these” he explained.
Jim Pee has over the years composed songs for over ten of the up and coming urban gospel singers with some living outside of the country and has a band that plays for him anywhere he performs.
Through his creativity as a composer, Ghanaians and the world at large can now listen to inspiring tunes like Heaven, Power, Lemme out, Aseda, Tomorrow, Dreams, Happiness Amazing love, My father, Ohene, My life, Sword, Believe, M’ensuro, Testimony amongst others.
Jim is currently preparing to storm the four corners of the country with his unique style and voice.
