Gradually, entertainment shows in Ghana have been accepted by so many people unlike before and almost every radio station or television station has an entertainment show they host.
Obviously, it isn’t everybody who listens or watches the usual political shows hosted by the various radio or television stations in this country. Don’t be surprised to know that some huge political figures do listen to some of the radio entertainment shows in the country. And some of course don’t miss their entertainment shows on television.
This simply should tell entertainment people that, it is not just any platform that should parade people who perhaps have their facts right but fail in the execution of their submissions. And for some panelists, it is so obvious they don’t have their facts right. But these same people are able to say anything at all in the name of entertainment when offered the opportunity.
Personally, I have observed from afar and realized a lot of people love entertainment not because they have no option, but I assume they think it is not that difficult to contribute on that platform, to understand the issues, express their thoughts on issues. And they do that sometimes without any proper findings and some other reasons that could be known to us. Do we blame them? We shouldn’t blame them because someone somewhere isn’t doing the right thing.
Sometimes, I listen to entertainment shows and I feel people are not too deep with their thoughts and it appears so glaring that they haven’t researched into the topic in order to give precise, concise and accurate information with regard to the topical issue being discussed.
Away from the above, they end up making a lot of noise when they are articulating their points. There is often a cacophony of sound when some panelists find themselves on an entertainment platform. This makes people see entertainers with a different lens and it is quite unfortunate.
Radio presenters and producers are my worry now. What stops them from controlling the panelist if he tries to disturb the flow of the show? Is the person bigger than the station that he can’t be controlled? Sometimes, you listen to a radio show and you wonder if truly the host of the show does the show all alone without any producer. That makes me sick though.
The show is not really enjoyed when that happens and some presenters are just not in charge of the situation. For crying out loud, that is your show and you have every right to moderate the show professionally.
Don’t forget most of these panelists know nothing about radio ethics and so would behave anyhow as they please. That is why the presenter is always around to make sure things are done appropriately, yet we don’t normally see that with some presenters. Some panelist to an extent bully and dictate to the presenter even if he (panelist) isn’t right.
It will be unfair not to say that some presenters and producers are good at their work. They are able to control their panelists very well and one feels very comfortable listening to them.
There are also some entertainment panelists who are very gentle in their submissions and not necessarily making noise to be heard.
To the radio presenters and producers especially, you need to up your game so that your platform can be recognized as a serious one since we are doing everything possible to be recognized by these politicians and the necessary stakeholders. Let’s observe sanity on the various entertainment platforms.
