Event organisers in the Brong-Ahafo Region are not happy as they feel some media houses in Ghana haven’t been fair to their region especially reality show organisers.
Speaking to Flex Newspaper, Mr. Johnson Owusu Yamoah AKA Obibini Abrantie, a concerned event organiser and a radio personality in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has lamented that, it is embarrassing and shameful how a big region like the Brong-Ahafo Region is always left out during the auditioning stages of reality shows but always get representatives (contestants) to represent the region.
“We the event organisers in Brong-Ahafo Region are working very hard. Knowing how the industry is, some of us have gone the extra mile in scouting and shaping talents in this part of the country. It is however shameful how the big media houses like TV3
and Atinka TV who should be helping us expose such talents through their reality shows would rather abandon us during their auditioning but always get fake representatives from the Brong -Ahafo Region anytime they organise such reality shows.
“The Brong-Ahafo representatives in the recent Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageantry organised by TV3 were never from Brong -Ahafo and have never lived here in the Brong –Ahafo Region. Her aunty who lives in Chiraa through her connections lobbied for her to take part in that competition as the Brong Ahafo rep,” he fumed.
The radio personality and the PRO of ‘Shape the Talent’ on behalf of event organisers in the region threatened they are ready to humiliate reality shows if this should continue.
“On behalf of all event organisers and media persons in this region, we are telling all organisers of reality shows that, we are ready to disgrace and humiliate them if this should continue. These fake reps have disgraced our customs and traditions for long and we can’t take it any longer. We will name and shame any Chiefs in this region who because of the little amount they get from these fake reps and end up endorsing them. Just like other regions, we want them to come to the Brong Ahafo Region anytime they embark on their regional auditioning than accepting reps from elsewhere,” he stated.
