Patrons of tourism, arts and culture will soon heave a sigh of relief as some three collective management organizations get ready to provide them with one of their heart desires.
There have been different programs like Pan African Historical Theatre Festival (PANAFEST), and the likes supported by previous governments but have all sunk now to an extent perhaps for the reason of change of government and probably some other reasons.
Atuu Festival of Arts also known as ‘AFA’ is a new program organised and owned by three different Collective Management Organisations in Ghana namely Audiovisual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG), Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and the Reprographic Rights Organization of Ghana (COPYGHANA).
The festival which would be held every two years in the country would create opportunities for the creative arts and culture industry in Ghana and make it a major arts and culture destination by bringing home major industry players from around the world here to interact with local artistes. It would also serve as an avenue to unearth new talents for job creation.
The festival which comes off in 2018 is a kaleidoscope of the colourful cultural experiences of Ghanaians showcased in a total array of artistic expositions. Ghanaian artistes would welcome to our country their counterparts from across the globe and in cohesion tell their various stories in music, film, books, paintings, sculpture, drama and other art forms imaginable. Over five days, artistes and visitors would be treated to a memorable period of excitement, splendor, spectacle, innovation and creativity as he/she would never have experienced.
According to the organizers, this programme has nothing to do with the support of any government, but have assured Ghanaians and the entire industry of a successful programme which would not fade out anytime soon.
Flex newspaper in an exclusive interview with Ahmed Banda popularly known as Bandex, one of the organizers of the Atuu Festival of Arts, has assured all beneficiaries of the programme of its sustainability and success and has also appealed to the media to give the program total support since it’s for everybody.
The inaugural launch will take place on 19th August, 2017 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra. The launch is a precursor of the main event.
