Popular Kumasi based movie producer Nimo Christo aka Ashbowa of Ashbowa productions has said that action movies in our Ghanaian movie industry has helped a lot including scaring away witches at night when one is watching them. He made this statement last Monday in a radio interview at Pluzz 89.9fm during their morning show programme AM Pluzz.
Ashbowa who is known for productions such as K20 and many more action flicks has suggested that many movie producers should work at producing more action movies because the benefits in producing action movies far outweigh the ones in societal movies. “One thing I have said before is the fact that the numerous action movies have reduced crime rate in the country because those who are doing the movies and appearing on screens are now known to risk continuous practice of crime. When your face has been shown on television screens, there is no way one can continue to involve him or herself in crime” Ashbowa told Flex newspaper reporters after the interview.
When one thought that was all he had to say concerning action movies produced in Ghana and especially in the movie industry, he released another bombshell. “The witches in Ghana are actually afraid of the beats and sound that come out of action movies. You know the beats and the blows are scary and punchy so when you are watching at night especially, witches will be scared to come close to your room. Because of this, we should do more investment in action movies because that is the future of our movie industry. Though at the moment the action movies seem to have gone down, I can still tell you on authority that those who are doing stunts for these movies are still active and waiting to do more. They have been trained for all these purposes so they are not ready to relent or do other things apart from the action movies but we need to encourage movie fans to patronize such movies.
On the other hand, Ashbowa has also threatened that some movie producers will be coming together to stage a demonstration soon against the authorities of this country over Dumsor. He added that Dumsor is really affecting the business of showbiz and movies to the extent that now movie producers can`t even release movies simpy because where they print their Cds are suffering from the negative effects of Dumsor.
