I have seen the police chase prostitutes and have arrested vagabonds who walk on the streets of Accra improperly dressed. I believe they do this because our laws frown on indecency and the ungodly manner at which people expose certain parts of their bodies publicly.
Though prostitutes don’t gallivant our streets naked, the manner in which their breast, thighs and other sensitive parts are being exposed just so to attract customers make them a threat for our young ones aside the sexually transmitted diseases they might spread.
Few years back, Wisa Grelde was dragged to court because he, out of over-excitement, showed his danger to the cameras and audience when performing at the 2015 edition of December 2 Remember organised by Citti FM and till date, the musician is still facing trials for putting up such an indecent and immoral act.
I was very happy because for once, I thought the Ghana police service had done something worthy of commendation. Though the said musician hadn’t been sanctioned yet, I believe it has deterred other male musicians who planned doing same just to gain more publicity on social media and other platforms. The horror how ever came in when the same law which chases prostitutes off our streets and cautions citizens to be decent kept mute when some of our treasured women started posting nude pictures and videos of themselves on social media, a platform which is not only monitored by Ghanaians but across the globe.
It started with a fine UCC student who went live on Facebook absolutely naked showing everything which was supposed to be hidden publicly. The video travelled across the length and breadth of the country and even outside the country and brought disrespect to our well cultured women who wouldn’t trade their dignities for silver and gold. After boasting her Facebook and instagram handles with all the likes and views and becoming popular over-night, she together with her team came out saying she suffered bipolar when recording such an embarrassing video. I was expecting the same law which took Wisa to court to act but it didn’t.
Actress Christabel Ekeh also gave us the shock of our lives few weeks ago when she released pictures of her nudity. It is obvious she did that just so to stay relevant after missing from the movie scenes for some time now and indeed, she was successful in getting back the attention of her fans and even added more to her list of friends on all her social media platforms.
Out of this shameful act, the actress won an acting contract in Nollywood days after social media got hold of these pictures and her family was solidly behind her after this uncivilised act. I know the police service has heard and seen these pictures, why then is Christabel still walking a free woman whiles she admitted herself she was okay mentally? I don’t want to believe the law favors women.
Young and beautiful Rashidatu Abubakar A.K.A Rashida Black Beauty after realising how this new trend seems to be doing all the magic also joined recently with a video which is still trending and I haven’t heard or seen the police say or do something on it and i don’t again want to believe the law favors women.
We should embrace ourselves for more of such videos if our law will continue favoring women than men. It’s a pity.

Sep 11, 2017 0There is too much chaos in our entertainment industry today and I am sometimes forced to ask myself whether or not we are serious to grow as an industry. From the days of ‘I told you so’ through to Osofo Dadzie’s Akan drama to our current movie days, I can’t boast of any...
